The Bowdoin College women's basketball team will keep a solid hold on the #1 spot in the nation in Division III after coming from behind to beat #4 Amherst 65-56 Saturday afternoon.

The victory for the Polar Bears puts them at 19-0 overall and 6-0 in NESCAC.

Amherst drops to 17-2 and 4-1.

These two teams met in the NCAA national championship game last year with the Mammoths winning the title.

This game was anything but easy for Bowdoin to win. The Polar Bears trailed 34-18 at halftime. But, the third quarter completely turned around everything. A 9-2 run by Bowdoin to start the quarter and outscored Amherst 28-10 in the third.

Abby Kelly led Bowdoin with 19 points.

Madeline Eck had 21 for Amherst.
