AE Champ Albany Women Upsets #5 Florida [VIDEO]

America East Conference women's hoops champion UAlbany has scored an upset win 61-59, in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

It is Albany's first win ever in the NCAA tourney.

Keep in mind, the Great Danes got into the NCAA field with a one point win over UMaine in the AE title game last Friday.

It wasn't easy. Down by 16 points and star player Shareesha Richards in foul trouble, the Great Dane came back to beat the Gators.

Former Lake Region HS standout Tiana-Jo Carter scored a basket with 7-seconds left to seal the victory.

Imani Tate scored 28 points to lead Albany.

The Great Danes advance to play Syracuse in the second round.
