The Gaziano Awards goes to the best all-around football linemen - one on the offensive side of the ball and one on the defensive side. This year's list of candidates is now down to 15 high school seniors across the state.

That list will get narrowed down and on January 25th two players win receive $5,000 scholarships as Gaziano winners.

The semi-finalists for top offensive lineman...Brendan Moore-Bangor, Isaiah Reynolds-Bonny Eagle, Josh Thibeault- Brunswick, Greg Grinnell - Cheverus, Matt Powell - Leavitt, Jed Scott - Sanford, Ethan Liberty - Skowhegan, Ethan Petty - Windham.

For defensive lineman...Russell Wilson - Nokomis, Colin Richards -Mt.Blue, Caelan Houle - Cape Elizabeth, Dylan Rasch - Greely, Luke Washington - Oak Hill, Jacob Fogel - Portland, and Mike Pino - Scarborough.

The award is named after Frank Gaziano, the founder of National Distributors of South Portland, a lifelong sports fan and community benefactor.

Last year the Gaziano winners were Bobby Begin (Thornton Academy) and Kurt Massey (John Bapst).
