State Police have arrested eight people in connection with a string of burglaries and the sales of stolen firearms. The arrests were the result of a four month investigation.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that the investigation was a cooperative effort between State Police, the York County Sheriff's Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. It began in November, when two men and a woman were arrested for burglaries committed in York, Cumberland, and Oxford counties. 20 firearms were recovered by police, but other guns were believed to have been taken to Massachusetts to be sold for drugs.

On November 21st, 2014, Christopher Michaud, Cole Meserve, and Amber Meserve were arrested for their involvement in burglaries in three counties. Search warrants were served in Buxton and numberous stolen items were recovered, including 7 stolen firearms. On November 24th, 2014, York County Sheriff's Deputies recovered 13 more stolen guns from a Buxton resident.

McCausland said investigators believe the stolen guns were brought to individuals at a home in Buxton where they were then sold for money and drugs, including heroin. After the arrest of the Meserves and Michaud, the guns were transported from Buxton to a home in Limington to hide them from police. It's believe that some of the guns were also taken to Massachusetts.
