Trevor MacLean will return to defend his Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race title on Saturday. The Nova Scotia kayaker not only had the fastest time a year ago, he has had the best time for five straight years.

MacLean makes the seven hour trip to Bangor each spring and it pays off. He has won the Kenduskeag Race 9 times ( 8 solo wins, 1 in a two-man kayak). MacLean has finished first or second for the past 12 years.

Because water level was low on the stream last year, MacLean's time was a slow 2-hours 12-minutes 20-seconds but water level should not be an issue.

The fastest time ever for the race was set in 1997 by New Brunswick's Robert Lang at 1:50:08.

MacLean does have five sub-2 hour races.

Live coverage of the 48th Kenduskeag Race begins at 8am Saturday on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket and 929theticket.com.
