Leave it to Boston University to spoil the party. A 3-1 win over the UMaine Black Bears on a night when fans welcomed the 1999 national championship team back to Alfond Arena.

The warm feeling in Alfond extended through the pre-game ceremony and 1:13 into the game. That's when Connor Leen gave the Bears the early lead.

It turned out to be the only goal Maine would score against the Terriers.

The Terriers tied the game on a powerplay goal from Ahti Oksanen in the 2nd period. Then a shorthanded goal by Danny O'Regan with just 14-seconds left in the period gave BU the 2-1 lead.

Freshamn sensation Jack Eichel scored an empty netter goal in the last minute to make the final score 3-1. Eichel picked up assists on the first two goals.

Maine goalie Sean Romeo made 25 saves. Bu's Matt O'Connor stopped 27 shots.

The Bears fall to 3-7-1, 2-3 in HE. The Terriers are 6-1-1, 4-1-1 in HE.

It doesn't get any easier for the Black Bears. Next weekend it's down to Boston to play the Terriers again Friday night followed by a game at Boston College.
