Vermont pro Jesse Larson is PGA New England Open champion after firing a final round 5-under par 66. Westbrook's Sean Gorgone was the top Maine finisher in 11th place.

Larsen finished in 3rd place at the Greater Bangor Open back in July. That finish included a first round score of 62 at Bangor Muni.

His score was overshadowed that day by Mike Van Sickle was set a GBO record with a 60.

Today at the New England Open in Belmont, Massachusetts, Larsen beat out Van Sickle by one shot in the 3-day tournament. Larsen collects $9,000 for the win.

Gorgone finished 13 shots behind Larsen. Another Maine pro, Shawn Warren, finished in 36th place.
