Alex Rodriguez drilled the first pitch he saw Friday into the rightfield seats at Yankee Stadiuim for a home run - his 3,000th hit. It was the beginning of a 7-2 New York Yankee win over the Detroit Tigers.

For A-Rod, it was home run number 667. He joins Hank Aaron has the only players in history to have 3,000 hits, 600 home runs and 2,000 RBI.

He is the 29th MLB player to get 3,000 hits.
