The purpose of the Sports Hero’s Award is to honor and recognize citizens in Eastern Maine who have made a difference through their volunteerism in community sports.

These are the individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to help ensure the successful operation of the programs they are involved with and the opportunities created for those who participate in them.

Sports Radio 92.9 and Hero’s Sports Grill are happy to recognize Tony McKim, Cindy Hoak and Dana Kearns as a recipient of a 2013 Sports Hero’s Award.

Tony McKim - Has volunteered his time for many years in Hancock County sports. A founder of the Acadia Football League, President and coach of Acadia Little League, a volunteer for MDI high school sports boosters, volunteer with Trenton youth sports.

Cindy Hoak - Has volunteered with all community sports in the Guilford area. She is president of the PCHS Pirates sports boosters. That includes running the snack booth, helping the softball program with field renovations, designing homecoming shirts, helping with snacks for teams to take on those long bus rides.

Dana Kearns - Has volunteered for 15 years with Holbrook community sports, whether its recreation basketball, little league or school sports, Dana is there. He helps as a referee, a scorekeeper and helping organize banquets. And when the time comes dresses up as Santa and hands out treats.
