The enigmatic Alfredo Aceves got a start for the Red Sox in an exhibition game Friday afternoon against Toronto and pitched five solid innings.

Aceves did not allow a run in the five innings. He gave up just two hits, two walks and struck out five. His ERA this spring is 3.00 in limited innings. Remember, Aceves pitched in the WBC for Team Mexico and was involved in an on-field altercation with Team Canada last week.

Despite the strong start you can expect him to start the season as the Sox long relief guy.

Toronto won the exhibition game Friday afternoon 1-0. The Sox sent a mostly minor league lineup against the Blue Jays. The Sox kids managed just two hits, one each by Jackie Bradley Jr and Bryce Brentz.

The Red Sox season gets underway April 1st against the New York Yankees.
