The UMaine women's basketball team opened defense of its America East Conference title with a convincing 67-46 win over New Hampshire at the Cross Center in Bangor.

After losing their last four non-conference games, the Black Bears outscored the Wildcats in all four quarters.

Parise Rossignol had 18 points. Tanesha Sutton had 15 points and 10 rebounds. And, Blanca Millan added13.

Former Greely HS standout Ashley Storey had 20 for UNH.

Maine is now 8-6 (1-0 AE). UNH is 3-11 (0-1 AE).

At Providence, RI: Brown Men 75  UMaine Men 67: The UM men's team lost its final non-conference game to the Brown Bears.

Maine got down by 19 points in the second half and came roaring back to within two. But, Brown hit its free throws down the stretch.

Andrew Fleming had 21 and Isaiah White had 20 for UMaine. Brown had four players in double digit scoring.

Maine drops to 2-13. Brown is 10-4.
