Anderson Leads Eagles With 21 Points
The Husson University men's basketball team put 13 players in the scoring column while posting their 6th win of the season with a 103-57 victory over Maine Maritime Academy.Freshman Raheem Anderson who is the two-time North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week led the Eagles with 21 points on 12-16 shooting. He helped Husson jump out to a quick lead early and never looked back. Phil Leighton added 17 points and 7 rebounds a the Eagles shot an impressive 53% from the field including 12-25 behind the three point arch.
The 1-6 Mariners were led by freshman Garrett Libby, the former Old Town Coyote finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds.
Husson is now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They go on the road next weekend to play Green Mountain College and Castleton State.
Despite taking a six point lead into the locker room at halftime the Husson women were outscored by 14 in the second half and lost to Maine Maritime Academy 72-64. Ashley Shine hit four thre--pointers and scored a game high 22 points to lead the 3-3 Mariners to their first conference win.
Kissy Walker's Eagles drop to 2-2 despite getting 17 points from freshman Chandler Guerrette and 12 from Vicky McIntyre.
