The first day of quarterfinals saw upsets with the Bangor baseball and softball teams on opposite ends of those upsets.For the second year in a row the Rams baseball team was knocked off by a lower seeded team in the quarterfinals as #3 Bangor fell to #6 Messalonskee, the defending state champs 3-2. The Rams left 11 runners on base and were 2-9 with runners in scoring position. All 3 Messalonskee runs were unearned as Bangor committed 4 errors. The Eagles will now play the winner of Hampden and Lewiston who meet on Thursday afternoon.

In other class A action #1 Oxford Hills beat #8 Brewer 6-0 while #4 Cony beat #7 Cony beat #7 Skowhegan 2-1.

In softball Bangor pulled off the upset as Don Stanhope's 7th seeded Rams eliminated defending state champion Cony 6-4. Skylar Cassum was the winning pitcher for Bangor who improves to 11-6. Cony played without head coach Rocky Gaslin who had to sit out after being ejected in the KVAC championship game over the weekend.

Oxford Hills also pulled off an upset as the 6th seeded Vikings beat #3 Messalonskee 5-0. Bangor and Oxford Hills will meet in the semifinals.
