Days after winning their first state championship in 35 years, the Bangor American Legion team is in Connecticut for the Northeast Regional today.The Comrades (23-5) will take on the Cheshire Post 95 in today's third game of the day. Cheshire won a three game series to take their state championship and comes in with a record of 27-10.

Much like the recently concluded Maine tournament, the regional is an 8-team double elimination format. The field includes three teams from Connecticut with Cheshire, state runner-up RCP (24-7) and the host team from Middletown (30-15).  The National Legion awards two teams to the top six states with the largest number of teams to help complete the field of 64 teams for the national tournament.

Thursday's schedule

Game 1: Milford, Mass. vs. Pawtucket, R.I., 9:30 a.m.

Game 2: Rocky Hill-Cromwell-Portland vs. Dover, N.H. 12:30 p.m.

Game 3: Cheshire vs. Bangor, Me., 4:30 p.m.

Game 4: Middletown vs. Essex, Vt., approx. 7:30 p.m.
