Bangor HS senior Justin Courtney signed his National Letter of Intent over the weekend. That means the 6-3 righthanded pitcher is committed to UMaine next fall and will play for coach Steve Trimper and the Maine Black Bears.

Courtney had an outstanding spring high school baseball season for the Bangor Rams, earning first team KVAC honors.

In the summer, he was an American Legion Zone 1 first team selection with a 5-0 record and ERA of 1.24. The Bangor Legion had a third place finish in the state tournament.

Courtney also picked up a win for Bangor Allstar team in the Senior League World Series in August.

Courtney is also a defenseman for the Bangor HS hockey team.
