The Bangor Rams girls avenged an early-season loss, beating the No. 3  Lawrence Bulldogs at Red Barry gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Bangor, which came into the match-up as the No. 4 seed in the East, had four players in double digits on their way to a 71-57 win.

Only two Heal Points separated the teams going into the game, after which Bangor improved to 13-4. Lawrence, of Fairfield, dropped to 12-5.

For Bangor, seniors Denae Johnson and Jordan Seekins each scored 13 points.

Bangor sophomores Mary Butler and Cordelia Stewart, affectionately called the "twin towers," scored 13 points and 22 points, respectively. Stewart earned McDonald's MVP honors.

Dale Duff and Beth Staples, who called the game for 92.9 The Ticket, also chose a second MVP, Lawrence's Nia Irving, who dumped in 34 points against the Rams.
