Bangor Wins,Brewer Loses At States

The Bangor Comrades scored a opening round win at the state American Legion Baseball Tournament in Augusta. Bangor pounded Fayette-Staples (Saco) 14-0.

Justin Courtney pitched the first five innings, the Comrades built up a big lead early in the game and then handed the ball over to Trevor Delaitte and Andrew Hillier for an inning of work. Then the 10-run rule ended the game after seven innings.

Bangor (24-3) will now meet Lewiston tomorrow at 2PM in a winner's bracket game.

The Brewer Falcons dropped their opening round game, losing 10-3 to Staples Crossing (Marshwood HS,Traip Academy). Brewer (16-9) faces an elimination game against Windham Thursday at 11am.
