Bangor High School's Trevor DeLaite has been named Maine's 2016 Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.

The senior lefty pitcher is 5-1 with an ERA of 0.2 in 40 innings this spring. DeLaite has 65 strikeouts and walked just four.

As a hitter, DeLaite has a .373 batting average with 14 RBI.

Monday afternoon, DeLaite and the Rams lost to Edward Little HS 1-0. It was his first loss since his freshman year.

As a state Gatorade Player of the Year winner, DeLaite is now eligible for the National Gatorade POY Award.

He will attend UMaine in the fall.
