Baltimore Orioles v Boston Red Sox  With the season opener just a few days away the Red Sox continue to finalize their roster with Daniel Nava and Mike Carp earning spots while Daniel Bard was sent to the Portland Sea Dogs.Bard who's struggles last season are well documented has not been able to find the strike zone on a consistent basis this spring. Pitching coach Juan Nieves told the Boston Globe that Bard took the news of his assignment to Portland well and understands that getting back to his old self and the majors is a process.

Both Daniel Nava and Mike Carp were notified Friday morning that they had earned a spot on the opening day roster. Meeting with the media, manager John Farrell says rookie Jackie Bradley Jr. has not made the roster just yet. Because he is not on the 40-man roster a spot needs to be made through a trade or release in order to put him on it. Rosters must be finalized by Sunday.
