Tuesday was a big day for Westbrook's Trevor Bates. A Super Bowl championship parade through Boston and a deal with the Patriots signing a so called 'futures contract'.

The former Westbrook Blue Blazes and UMaine Black Bear was a top performer on the Patriots practice squad after getting cut early in the NFL season by the Colts.

A 'futures contract' means he is signed to the Pats for next season. It means when the new NFL 'calendar year' begins (March 9th) Bates will be on the roster. Of course, he still could be cut at any point after the 'calendar year' begins.
