Police in Bath have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a woman's house and exposed himself. Stephen McIntire has a history of criminal and sexual offenses.

A 28-year-old woman called police just after six o'clock on the evening of November 24th to report a burglar in her home that was trying to get into her bedroom. When officers arrived, the woman was in the upstairs room and there was no sign of anyone else in the house.

Once the scene was cleared, the woman told police that she came home to find a man sitting on her couch, exposing himself. She immediately ran upstairs, locked the door to the bedroom, grabbed a handgun for protection, and called 911. She gave police a description of the suspect.

A police K-9 led investigators to the Bumpy Hill Road home of 55-year-old Stephen McIntire, where police found evidence linking him to the crime. He was arrested at the home later that same night and was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail. At his arraignment the next day, bail was set at $10,000 cash.

McIntire is well-known to police, with a lengthy criminal history of similar offenses, including burglary, violation of privacy (Maine's peeping tom law), criminal trespass, failure to comply with the sex offender registry, and Gross Sexual Assault. This case remains under investigation by the Bath Criminal Investigations Division.
