If UMaine had any interest in BC assistant hockey coach Mike Cavanaugh as a replacement for Tim Whitehead, forget about it...He's UConn bound.

The Hartford Courant is reporting that Cavanaugh is in final negotiations to be the next UConn hockey coach. He is one of the more high-profile assistants in the country, serving under BC coach Jerry York for the past 18 years.

UConn interim coach David Berard and former Denver coach George Gwozdecky were the other finalists for the job.

UMaine fans wait as the search committee does its work to find the next Maine coach. Bob Corkum is serving as interim head coach.

With the Denver U, Ohio State and now UConn positions filled it appears the Maine job may be the final high profile job remaining to be filled.
