The UMaine Black Bears baseball dropped its opening day game at #3 Texas Tech by a score of 4-2 Friday afternoon.

Senior Justin Courtney pitched the first four innings, giving up three runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out six.

The Bears collected just four hits, two of them by Danny Casals.

Jeremy Pena and Hernen Sardinas knocked in the two runs, both on infield outs.

The Bears and Red Raiders play a twinbill Saturday afternoon and a single game on Sunday.
