The UMaine hockey team got out of Vermont with a 3-3 tie and one point in the standings after the weekend set.

After a scoreless first period, the Black Bears and Catamounts swapped goals early in the second period. Then Eduards Tralmaks scored twice, his second and third goals of the year, to give Maine a one goal lead with eight minutes to play.

Vermont's Max Kaufman got the game tied again with less than four minutes to play.

The game stayed 3-3 through overtime.

Jeremy Swayman made 40 saves for the Bears. Vermont goalie Stefanos Lekkas made 30.

Maine is 3-3-2 in Hockey East (5-7-2). The Catamounts are 1-6-1 and 4-7-1.

NOTE:  The Black Bears play an exhibition game vs the U.S. National Development Team and then don't play another game until after Christmas.
