The UMaine women's basketball team will play for the America East Conference championship for the first time since 2004 but the 51-48 semi-final win over Stony Brook on Sunday was anything but easy.

Maine, now 26-7, will play at Albany for the championship game on Friday at 4:30pm. the Great Danes(26-4) dominated Binghamton 79-43 in the other semi-final.

The Black Bears led at the half but the Seawolves fought back to take a five point lead early in the fourth quarter.

But down the stretch, Stony Brook scored just two points in the final four minutes and Maine held on for the win.

Sigi Koizar led the Bears with 15 points. Liz Wood had eight poitns and seven rebounds before fouling out. She played just 25 minutes.
