The University of Maine women's basketball team had their season extended Monday night after receiving a bid to play in the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament.The Bears will host the Bucknell Bison at the Cross Center Wednesday at 7pm. Maine enters with a 16-14 record while Bucknell comes in at 16-13. The winner will move on to play the winner of the Bryant vs. Fairfield game.

The tournament which is put on by Sports Tours International is in its fifth season and includes a 16 team field. Teams are picked and seeded based on RPI, Sagarin, strength of schedule, quality wins, and end of season trends.

This will be Maine's 11th postseason appearance and first since 2005 when they played in the WNIT.

Two other America East Teams will be in postseason play. Albany who won the conference championship and the automatic bid the NCAA tourney got a #15 seed and will play West Virginia in the first round. Runner-up Stony Brook received a spot in the WNIT and will play at Michigan in the first round.
