The UMaine women's basketball team had a successful day with a 65-53 win over Binghamton and raised over $13,000 dollars for the Play for Kay cancer fund.Sophie Weckstrom hit four 3-pointers and finished with a team high 16 points while Liz Wood added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Bears are now 13-11 overall and 7-4 in America East which puts them in fourth place with five games left on the schedule. Next up is a  trip to Hartford on Wednesday.

The team also raised money for the Play for Kay cancer fund with a goal of $10,000 dollars. Coach Richard Baron said if they reached the goal before game time he would dye his hair pink and then shave it off after the game. Both things happened as $13,585 dollars was raised.
