The UMaine baseball team earned a spot in next week's America East Conference playoffs. The Black Bears needed only one win over Albany but made it a sweep of the doubleheader.

In game one, Bangor freshman Justin Courtney won his fifth game of the season by working six innings of one run ball. The Bears beat the Great Danes 4-1.

Maine collected just three hits but scored all four runs in the 7th inning.

In game two, Scott Heath worked five innings to get his sixth win, the Bears beat the Danes 3-1.

Maine is 10-9 in AE play, 24-25 overall.

With one more game to play vs Albany Saturday, it looks like the Bears will be the #3 seed in next week's conference tournament.
