The Hartford Hawks came north and swept the UMaine Black Bears, winning 6-4 in 11 innings in the first game and then winning 2-1 in game two. The third and final game of the series is today at 3pm.

The first game pitted two of the top pitchers in the NAC - Maine's Tommy Lawrence and Hartford's Sean Newcombe.

Each pitcher gave up four runs and did not figure in the decision.

In the second game, all the scoring happened in the first inning - the Hawks scoring twice, the Bears responding with one run.

Maine's Shaun Coughlin and Hartford's Brian Hunter each pitched seven inning complete games.

Because of Saturday's rain, the third game of the series was pushed to today at 3pm at Mahaney Diamond.

Maine is 1-4 in America East, 9-18 overall. Hartford is 5-2 and 15-10.

NOTE:  The UMaine softball split a doubleheader at Albany on Sunday, winning 3-0 and losing 6-4. The  Bears are 5-3 in the AE, 13-11 overall.
