Nolan Vesey scored just 28 seconds into overtime as the UMaine Black Bears opened the 2017-18 season with a bang...and a 4-3 win over UConn.

The Bears had leads of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 but the Huskies kept coming back. UConn scored the game tying goal with just 12 second left in regulation.

Tim Doherty, Rob Michel and Peter Housakos scored Maine's first three goals.

Goalie Rob McGovern made 35 saves for the Bears.

The teams play again tonight at Alfond Arena.
