University of Maine catcher Chris Bec has been added to the Johnny Bench Award watch list by the Wichita Sports Commission.

Bec was added in the most recent additions to the list by the commission and was joined by fellow America East catcher Erik Ostberg from the University of Hartford.  Bec is hitting 358 on the season and leads the team.  He has 10 runs batted in and has a .966 fielding percentage.

The award was created in 2000 and honors the best collegiate catcher in baseball at the Division I level.  Past winners include Major Leaguers Kurt Suzuki, Buster Posey, and Mike Zunino.  Semi-finalists will be announced on May 17 and the winner will be announced at a banquet on June 29th.
