There were some great performances in Maine high school sports in the past week, so it was especially difficult to narrow down our finalists for McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week. But these three student-athletes delivered especially impressive performances.

When all was said and done, it was Devin Wright of the Ellsworth Eagles who walked away with the title this week after helped the Eagles improve to 4-2 on the season by rushing for 398 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-14 win over Houlton. Wright has rushed for nearly 1,000 yards this season to go along with 11 total touchdowns.

Wright came away with 45 percent of the vote in a three-way race with two other outstanding student-athletes.

Alex Canning of the Belfast Lions was second in the voting, after he led the Lions to a 45-8 win over Waterville by racking up 242 yards on just 10 carries. His rushing performance led to four touchdowns and he added an extra-point kick.

Quarterback Logan Rogerson of the Brewer Witches also turned in a great performance, playing a key role in handing Brunswick its first loss of the season. The senior threw for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed for 124 yards that included a 41-yard touchdown run. This season he has almost 500 yards passing and rushing with 11 touchdowns.
