Ben Guite spent 13 years in pro hockey after his playing days at UMaine. Now he's back in Orono - as an assistant coach under new head coach Red Gendron.

Guite was part of Maine's second national championship team in 1999 and was assistant captain of the Black Bears in 2000.

He spent time in the NHL playing for the Colorado Aves, Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators totaling 175 games. Guite played 585 games in the AHL.

"As a player here at Maine, he was an extraordinary leader and national champion," says Bears new coach Red Gendron. "He had an exceptional pro career and now returns to the program that he loves as deeply as any Maine hockey player that has ever played here."
