For the second straight game the Red Sox hit a ninth inning home run to win a game. Last night in Seattle it was Mookie Betts and the Sox won 2-1.

Betts hit his 22nd homer of the year off closer Steve Cishek.

Aaron Hill hit is first homer since joining the Sox in the 8th inning to tie the game at 1-1.

For most of the night it was a pitching duel between Eduardo Rodriguez and Seattle's James Paxton. E-Rod went 6.1 innings, giving up just one run. He gave up three hits and two walks. Rodriguez struck out 6.

Craig Kimbrel, activated from the DL just before the game, pitched the 9th inning to get his 18th save. He walked one and struck out three.

At 58-46, the Sox climb back into a tie for 2nd place with Toronto in the AL East, one game behind Baltimore.
