Thanks to a win and a tie at New Hampshire the Maine Black Bears will be part of the Hockey East playoffs. The Bears will be the #8 seed and play at #1 UMass-Lowell.

A wild final weekend of regular season play had 9 teams battling for 8 playoff spots. All 8 positions were up for grabs. When the dust finally settled here's how the HE quarter-finals will match up...

#8 Maine at #1 UMass-Lowell

#7 Vermont at #2 Boston College

#6 Merrimack at #3 BU

#5 UNH at #4 Providence

BU, Providence and UNH actually tied for third place in points but through tie-breakers BU was placed #3, Providence #4 and UNH #5.

Maine and Vermont tied for seventh place with 22 points each but Vermont won the head-to-head tie-breaker with the Bears. And how about this - Maine defeated UMass- Lowell two out of the three times they met this season.

All quarterfinal round series will be best-two-of-three starting Friday night.
