UMaine sophomore pitcher Justin Courtney pitched a solid seven innings as the UMaine Black Bears beat New Mexico State 3-1 in the first of a four game series.

Courtney allowed just one run on seven hits in his seven innings of work. He did not walk a batter while striking out two. He got the win.

Maine improves to 2-2 on the young season.

Rightfielder Tyler Schwanz led the Black Bear offense with three hits and two RBI.

Maine will play a doubleader tonight against the Aggies and a single game tomorrow.
