The UMaine women's basketball team lost a tight game at Boston College Sunday afternoon 55-48. The Black Bears drop to 1-1 on the young season.

The (2-0) Eagles jumped out to the early lead, mainly on three-pointers from Kelly Hughes. She finished as BC's high scorer with  13.

Maine came back to out score the Eagles in both the second and third quarters. In fact, when Liz Wood hit a three-pointers with about three minutes left in the third quarter, the Bears had a six point lead. But, BC came back to tie the game 38-38 after three.

BC then out scored Maine 17-10 in the final quarter. The Bears hit on just two field goals and for the day, Maine shot  just 33% from the floor and 5-for-26 from the three-point line.

Wood finished as Maine's high scorer with 14 point and 8 erbounds. Sigi Koizar had 12 points.

The Black Bears head to the University of Minnesota next weekend.
