The UMaine hockey teams got behind 3-0 at Minnesota-Duluth Saturday night and came roaring back. But, too little, too late. The Bulldogs beat the Black Bears 3-2.

It is a weekend sweep for the defending national champions.

It was another night of bigtime shots on goal faced by Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman. The Bulldogs outshot the Bears 44-20 and on the weekend outshot them 100-38.

Trailing 3-0 late in the 2nd period, Maine's Rob Michel scored on the powerplay. Then early in the 3rd period, freshman Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup scored to make it a one goal game.

Maine good never get the equalizer.

The Bears drop to 2-2 with a weekend series at UConn next.

Minnesota-Duluth is now 4-1-1.
