The UMaine hockey team is still looking for that first win of the year. Friday night in New Jersey, the Black Bears lost 5-4 in overtime to UMass in the Capital City Classic.

The loss puts the Bears at 0-3-3. The four team tourney resumes Saturday in Trenton, New Jersey.

After Maine's Will Merchant scored a first period goal, the Minutemen scored three unanswered goals in the second period.

A second Merchant goal made it 3-2 UMass after two periods.

The Minutemen made it 4-2 in the third when Maine's Daniel Perez and Cedric Lacroix lit the lamp to tie the game 4-4.

The game went to overtime and at the 2:14 mark, Ray Pigozzi got the game winner for UMass.

Rob McGovern took the loss in net for UMaine. He made 32 saves.

The Black Bears play host Princeton Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm in the losers bracket game. The Tigers lost to Yale 3-1 in the other first round game.
