UMaine hockey jumped on UMass for two first period goals and went on to beat the MInutemen 4-1 at Alfond Arena Friday night.

The Black Bears get their third Hockey East win of the season, 3-9-1. Maine is now 9-13-3 overall.

Daniel Perez and Nolan Vesey scored the first two goals. The Vesey score came on the powerplay.

The Bears added two more goals in the third period, including another powerplay score from Cedric Lacroix.

Rob McGovern made 28 saves for Maine.

The teams play again tonight at Alfond.
