Bogdanovich Pitcher, Coutts Coach of the Year

When the UMaine softball team opens the America East tournament today they will do so with the conference Pitcher and Coach of the Year.At the America East banquet Wednesday night senior Alexis Bogdanovich was named the Pitcher of the Year after posting a 14-7 record this season with an ERA of 1.54. She has struck out 176 batters and walked just 12 which is second in the country.

Coutts receives her first Coach of the Year award in this her fourth season guiding the Black Bears. The Bears record of 21-20 is the most wins for the program since 2010.

Bogdanovich was also named to the all-conference first team while Emj Fogel, Nikki Byron, Kristen Koslosky and Felicia Lennon were named to the second team.

Maine is the #4 seed in the four team doubles elimination tourney and will play #1 Stony Brook today at 1pm.
