Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said early Monday that he would not sign a host-city contract that puts the city on the hook for any cost overruns. By the middle of the afternoon, the U.S. Olympic Committee announced it was severing ties with the city.

That means no possibility of the summer olympics in beantown in 2024.

The USOC now has seven weeks to come up a bid from another city.
