Red Sox minor league outfielder Rusney Castillo will head to play in Puerto Rico in an effort to rejoin the major league club, according to WEEI.

Castillo was demoted from the Red Sox in 2016 and took him off the 40-man roster after poor play.  The Cuban born outfielder will play for Caguas in Puerto Rico from December 8th through January in an effort to regain the skills that helped him agree to a four year $48 million dollar contract with the Sox.

Castillo hit .250 in nine games with Boston and has just 317 at bats in the major leagues.  He is looking to break into an outfield in Boston that currently boasts Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr, and Andrew Benintendi.
