The Boston Red Sox traveled to Tampa Bay last night, May 23rd, but their bad luck followed them on the road, as they lost to the Rays 1-0 extending their losing streak to 8 games.

Cole Figueroa hit a pinch hit walk off double to give Tampa Bay the win, Tampa Bay's second consecutive win, and Figueroa's second career hit. The hit came of Bruce Badenhop. Andrew Miller (1-3) took the loss for the Red. Sox.

The Red Sox wasted an excellent performance by John Lackey, who pitched 7 strong scoreless innings, allowing only 5 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3. But the Red Sox offense managed only 5 hits, struck out 11 times and were 0-5 with men in scoring position and left 8 men on base.

The Red Sox are now 20-27 and  in last place, trailing the first place Toronto Blue Jays by 6 games. The Sox take on Tampa Bay this afternoon, with the game starting at 4 PM.
