BREAKING NEWS: An already thin New England Patriots receiving corp gets thinner with the Sunday afternoon announcement by Eric Decker that he is retiring.

He made the announcement on his Instagram account.

Decker signed a contract with the Patriots back on August 3rd but seemed to have some trouble dropping some passes. He did not play in the first half when Tom Brady was in the game during Friday night's loss to Carolina.

If your're counting...the Pats have released, Jordan Matthews, Kenny Britt and Malcolm Mitchell and now Decker's retirement.

That leaves Julian Edelman (suspended first four games), Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Corderrelle Patterson, plus some rookies.

The Patriots play their final exhibition game Friday  night vs the NY Giants.
