A 911 call Wednesday afternoon sent Brewer Police and Penobscot County Sheriff's Deputies to a home, responding to a report of a multi-hostage situation. Now, police are seeking those responsible for the call that turned out to be a hoax.

ABC-7 reports that the caller claimed there was a multiple hostage situation that involved children. The children were reportedly being held at gunpoint and kept away from the adults in the home. Needless to say, police and deputies responded quickly to the residence on Canterbury Road.

The homeowners told ABC-7 that they were looking out the windows, trying to figure out what was going on, when police called and asked them to come out with their hands up. Homeowner Ernest Hutchins told reporters he started trying to figure out what he might have done to propel someone to make that call.

Now, Brewer Police are looking for those responsible. Anyone who thinks they may have information is asked to call the Brewer Police Department, 989-7001.
