Brewer’s Last Minute Climb To #6

For the Brewer Witches, the 24 hour wait to play their season finale was worth the wait. The Friday night win over Mt Blue jumped the Witches from out-of-the-tourney #9 all the way up to #6 in Class A North.

It means the (9-9) Witches and (11-7) Cougars will meet in the quarterfinals in the #3 vs #6 matchup next Saturday at the Augusta Civic Center.

Hampden finished #2, seven Heal Points behind top ranked Cony. The Broncos will play Skowhegan in the quarterfinal round.

The Bangor Rams finished in first place in Class AA North for the first time since the new class was introduced. The 16-2 Rams will host Lewiston in a quarterfinal round game Tuesday at Red Barry Gym.

The Bangor girls finished #3 in AA North and will host Cheverus next Tuesday.

The Hermon Hawks completed a second consecutive undefeated regular season and will try to win a second consecutive gold ball from the #1 Class B North position.

10 other teams in the postseason field will try to stop that from happening.
