The Boston Bruins scored two goals in the first period which was enough to beat Detroit 4-1 and even their playoff series at a game apiece.Justin Florek and Reilly Smith both scored their first career playoff goals in the first period to give the Bruins an early lead they would never surrender. Milan Lucic and Zdeno Chara had the other Boston goals while Torey Krug and Jerome Iginla each had two assists.

Tuukka Rask was outstanding in goal stopping 35 shots. Jimmy Howard was only able to stop 25 of the 29 he faced after getting a shutout in game one.
