Zdeno Chara will be out 4-6 weeks after suffering a knee injury during Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, the Boston Globe reported Saturday.

Chara's knee buckled when he checked ex-teammate Carl Soderberg during the first period.

The 41-year-old joins a laundry list of injured Bruins defensemen, which also includes Charlie McAvoy (head), Brandon Carlo (upper body), Kevan Miller (right hand), John Moore (lower body), and Urho Vaakanainen (head).

Chara has tallied three goals and one assist in 18 games this season.

Big Z is back in Boston while the team continues its four-game road trip, which will bring the Bruins to Arizona to face the Coyotes on Saturday night.
