It did not take long for Boston Bruins tough guy Shawn Thornton to find a job on the first day of NHL free agency. Thornton signs on with the Florida Panthers after the B's said they would not re-sign him.

Thornton had been with the Bruins for the past seven seasons. He 5 goals and 8 points and 74 penalty minutes last season. He won a Stanley Cup with the B's in 2011 and with the Ducks in 2007.

NOTE: Another Bruins free agent, backup goalie Chad Johnson, has also found work. Jack Capuano's New York Islanders have signed him to a two year deal. Johnson backed up Tuukka Rask and went 17-4-3 with a 2.10 GAA. The Bruins had decided to go with young goalie Niklas Svedberg as Rask backup.
